Chapter 1: Borrowing You to Cool Down
“Brother Guang, she’s already in the room. She definitely won’t wake up for a while.”
“I was afraid she might hurt you when she wakes up, so I gave her a tiny dose.”
“You want…”
The conversation at the door continued. Gradually regaining consciousness, Shen Yi’an pinched her own arm hard.
‘Ow!’
A wave of pain washed over her, making her absolutely certain that what she was experiencing wasn’t a dream.
She had been reborn!
Reborn back to the time before graduating from university, when their entire class went to the Disco dance hall to broaden their horizons.
August 20, 1981!
Her roommate Yin Qingqing wanted to go to the restroom but was worried the dance hall was too chaotic, so she asked Shen Yi’an to accompany her.
Naturally, she wouldn’t refuse a good friend’s request and went along without a second thought.
On the way back, she ate the White Rabbit Creamy Candy that Yin Qingqing gave her.
Then she lost consciousness.
When she woke up again, she found herself completely naked and filthy, with He Haiguang smoking beside her.
According to He Haiguang, she had been given to him by Yin Qingqing.
Both physically and emotionally traumatized, and weakened by the drug, she was taken by He Haiguang to his rural hometown. She went from being a brilliant university student to a disheveled village woman, common everywhere in the countryside.
Until the moment she died, she wanted to ask Yin Qingqing why she had betrayed her—they had been close friends who spent every day together for four years!
When she opened her eyes again, she never expected to be reborn at the very moment Yin Qingqing had handed her over.
There was no time to think too much. Hearing the conversation outside the door nearing its end, Shen Yi’an stood up from the sofa and looked around. Her eyes quickly fixed on the unopened beer bottles on the coffee table.
Just as she hid behind the door, the private room door creaked open.
The lighting in the dance hall was dim, and the private room had no lights on.
He Haiguang, who entered, didn’t notice that the person on the sofa was gone and still headed straight toward it.
As he walked, he pulled something out of his pants pocket.
Seizing the opportunity, Shen Yi’an raised the beer bottle high and slowly approached.
Just as she was about to swing it down, He Haiguang, sensing danger, immediately turned around.
Driven by a stronger will to survive, the bottle came down hard the moment he turned.
Seeing him still standing steadily after one bottle, she quickly followed up with another.
Two unopened beer bottles successfully knocked down He Haiguang, whose eyes were still filled with disbelief.
Perhaps he never expected that walking by the river often would not only wet his shoes but also cost him his life.
Of course, it wouldn’t cost him his life, but when he would wake up was another matter.
Seeing He Haiguang fall to the ground, Shen Yi’an, who had never used a beer bottle to hurt anyone before, collapsed onto the floor.
It had been extremely dangerous. If she had acted even a second later, her fate might have been the same as in her previous life, or possibly even worse.
Her gaze swept over a certain part of his body. Worried that this scumbag might harm other innocent people if he woke up, she took the remaining beer bottles from the table and smashed them all down.
Suffering severe damage to a vital part of his body, He Haiguang, who should have been unconscious, began to groan and showed signs of waking up.
But there were no more beer bottles on the table, so Shen Yi’an had to stand up and kick his head.
Fueled by the resentment accumulated from her past life, He Haiguang, already bleeding from the beer bottle blows to his head, became even more gruesome.
Not only was his head bleeding, but blood also flowed from the corners of his mouth and his ears.
She didn’t stop kicking until her legs lost their strength.
Leaning against the wall to catch her breath, Shen Yi’an waited until her legs regained some strength before staggering out.
Her first visit to a disco dance hall had certainly been an eye-opener—this was one place she would never set foot in again.
With that thought, she closed the door behind her as she left the private room.
Mainly, she didn’t want anyone to discover that He Haiguang was in trouble.
A scumbag like him didn’t deserve to be rescued early.
The later he was found, the better. Ending up with a mental impairment would be just fine.
In her past life, the beatings she endured, the hardships she faced, and the suffering she went through were dozens of times worse than what He Haiguang was experiencing now.
If she had managed to hold on until her life force was completely drained before dying, surely a grown man like He Haiguang could do the same.
It was a good plan, but not long after leaving the private room, she felt as if countless ants were biting her all over.
Accompanied by intermittent dizziness, shortness of breath, blurred consciousness, and an overwhelming heat coursing through her body, Shen Yi’an couldn’t help but think of one possibility.
She had been drugged!
In her past life, she had experienced this more than once and was all too familiar with the physical reactions.
But she hadn’t touched any of the drinks in the private room, and she had only kicked He Haiguang, with no physical contact that could have exposed her to the drug.
Could it have happened before she lost consciousness?
But before passing out, she had drunk the same as her classmates, making it even less likely that she had been drugged.
So how had it happened?
Despite the unanswered questions, Shen Yi’an had little time to ponder. She knew the most urgent task was to counteract the effects of the drug.
Unwilling to seek relief through a man, her only option was to rely on the cooling sensation of ice-cold alcohol.
The moment this thought crossed her mind, she mustered all her strength and crashed into the nearest private room, collapsing onto the floor.
The coolness of the floor provided some relief from the heat, but it wasn’t enough—she needed more.
As Shen Yi’an crawled forward on the floor, Li Beichen, who had been reclining on the sofa with his eyes closed, pretending to rest, heard the commotion and quickly rose to his feet. He strode over to her and asked, “Comrade, have you entered the wrong private room?”
“There’s a ‘No Admittance’ sign hanging outside.”
Hearing the man’s cool voice, Shen Yi’an, already on the verge of losing her sanity from the drug’s effects, slowly lifted her head.
Sensing the coolness she desperately needed emanating from him, she immediately began climbing toward him, using both her hands and feet. “So cool! So comfortable!”
“Just let me lean against you for a moment! I’ll be fine soon!”
Caught off guard by her sudden actions, Li Beichen froze as she threw herself into his arms.
He was being harassed!
He had come to the private room precisely to avoid the flirtatious women outside, never expecting that someone would barge in despite the sign.
Even if she had crawled in, it didn’t change the fact that he was being harassed!
Suppressing his inexplicable irritation, Li Beichen firmly grasped the shoulders of the person in his arms and met her gaze.
“Comrade, you’ve had too much to drink!”
“Let me take you outside to find your companions. A man and a woman alone together will ruin your reputation!”
“Get up, I—hmph!”
Before he could finish, Shen Yi’an, impatient with his lecturing, shoved him to the ground and slapped his face twice.
“You talk too much!”
“I just want to borrow you to cool down. Why do you have to say so much?”
“Someone should shut that talkative mouth of yours!”
With that, she threw herself on top of him.
When her lips and body touched something cool, she unconsciously smacked her lips a few times and murmured, “Comfortable!”
Looking at the woman sprawled on top of him, setting fires everywhere, Li Beichen’s brow furrowed into deep creases.
Noticing that his usually resistant body was miraculously responding this time, his gaze toward Shen Yi’an grew increasingly profound. “You brought this upon yourself. It’ll be too late for regrets when you wake up tomorrow!”
The moment he finished speaking, he embraced her and tumbled onto the soft sofa.
Before long, audible sounds that would make one blush and heart race emerged from the private room marked with a “No Admittance” sign.
“It hurts!”
“Be good, it won’t hurt soon!”
“You’re lying! It still hurts so much! Get off me!”
“You were the one who initiated this, saying I felt cool and comfortable!”
“You’re comfortable, but you’re not comfortable either…”
While the two were discussing the philosophy of life, the murmurs from the corner of the dance hall grew increasingly distinct.
“Why hasn’t Yi’an come back yet?”
“Not sure. She said she was going to the restroom when she left.”
“But it’s been over an hour. She couldn’t have fallen into the toilet, could she?”
“Stop being disgusting. She probably went outside for some fresh air.”
“Just ask Yin Qingqing. They went out together earlier!”
