Chapter 25: Mother Can Definitely Do It!
“Brother Jingnan! Brother Muchen!” Tongtong turned her head, her little face serious. “Help me guard the door! Don’t let anyone in!”
Although Gu Jingnan and Si Muchen didn’t know what their little sister intended to do, they still turned around and blocked the entrance to the operating room.
Under Gu Yanbin’s astonished gaze, Tongtong quickly shoved an anesthetic pill into his mouth.
“Sleep, Daddy… everything will be better when you wake up.”
As her soft voice faded, Gu Yanbin had already fallen into a deep sleep.
Tongtong grabbed Yu Wanqin, who was still in a dazed state, and spoke rapidly, “Mother, don’t be afraid! Listen to Tongtong! We need to examine Daddy immediately and treat his wound again!”
Yu Wanqin’s mind went blank, instinctively following her daughter’s instructions as she grasped Gu Yanbin’s arm.
Tongtong focused her will.
The three of them appeared in the medical room within the space, where various precision instruments were operating rapidly.
Time was of the essence.
Tongtong nimbly climbed onto the high stool beside the hospital bed, quickly scanned Gu Yanbin’s body with an instrument, and data immediately appeared on the nearby computer screen.
Holding Gu Yanbin’s hand with one small hand, she continuously channeled her special ability, while with her other hand, she reached out and a lustrous, smooth pill materialized in her grasp.
“Mother! Feed this to him! Quickly!”
Yu Wanqin took a deep breath, steadied her nerves, took the pill, pried open Gu Yanbin’s mouth, and fed it to him.
The pill dissolved instantly upon entering his mouth. With the support of the healing ability, Gu Yanbin’s ashen complexion began to show faint signs of vitality at a visible rate.
Clenching her small fist, Tongtong said seriously, “Mother! Prepare to remove the bullet! The tools are on the sterile table to the left!”
Yu Wanqin had never been on an operating table before.
Holding the scalpel, her hand trembled slightly, and cold sweat beaded on her forehead.
That bullet was right near the heart; the slightest mistake…
“Mother, don’t be afraid! You can do it!” Tongtong held her hand, her gaze fixed intently on the bloodstained area on Gu Yanbin’s chest.
A precise three-dimensional diagram of the human body was crystal clear in her little mind.
“Three millimeters to the left, depth 1.5 centimeters, angle tilted 15 degrees downward… Yes! Right there! Steady! Clamp it and slowly pull it out! Don’t touch the ventricular wall!”
Under her daughter’s calm and steady guidance, Yu Wanqin gradually got into the rhythm, focusing entirely and holding her breath.
The tip of the forceps touched something hard and foreign! Her heart clenched.
Concentrating all her energy, she slowly extracted the deformed bullet from Gu Yanbin’s bloodied chest!
A soft clink.
The bullet fell into the tray.
Yu Wanqin swayed as if all her strength had drained away, her back instantly soaked through with sweat.
“Mother, you’re amazing!” Tongtong didn’t hesitate to offer praise, swiftly handing over a specially prepared suture needle threaded with suture material. “Sew it up quickly! Use the locking backstitch method I taught you, and remember to tie a slip knot!”
Gritting her teeth, Yu Wanqin threw herself back into the new phase of treatment.
When the final stitch was placed, the knot tied, and the thread cut, Yu Wanqin nearly collapsed from exhaustion.
Tongtong caught her mother’s swaying body, while her other hand gently rested above the wound, channeling a continuous stream of special ability into it relentlessly, almost draining herself completely.
“Tongtong!”
Godfather’s injuries were simply too severe; without using her special ability, ordinary medicine wouldn’t be enough to heal him.
Watching her daughter’s increasingly pale little face, Yu Wanqin felt both heartache and unease, grasping the child’s cold small hand.
Before their eyes, the sutured wound on Gu Yanbin’s body was visibly wriggling and healing at a remarkable speed. The dark, stagnant blood rapidly dissipated, and his pale skin regained a healthy rosy hue.
The data on the monitor had largely returned to normal… the astonishing speed was as if an invisible hand had forcibly restored him.
Yu Wanqin was once again stunned by her daughter’s ability.
“Huff…”
Tongtong let out a long sigh, waved her little hand once more, and the three of them reappeared in the operating room.
Though it seemed like a long time had passed, in the real world, it was merely the blink of an eye.
The two little ones who had turned their backs at the door couldn’t help but glance back at the noise.
They saw Gu Yanbin still lying on the hospital bed, but the horrifying wound on his chest was now neatly bandaged with clean gauze. The ashen pallor of death had completely vanished from his face, replaced by a healthy pink flush.
“Dad!”
“Uncle!”
They both cried out simultaneously.
Gu Yanbin’s eyelids fluttered lightly a few times before slowly opening.
“Dad, are you okay?” Gu Jingnan was on the verge of tears.
Si Muchen also wore a face full of concern.
Gu Yanbin: “…”
It was strange.
He felt not only fine but also so energetic that he could wrestle a bull to the ground.
He abruptly sat up, instinctively touching his wound, his eyes filled with confusion.
Huh? It doesn’t hurt?
“I… I’m not dead? What happened?”
He clearly remembered the excruciating pain of the bullet tearing through his heart and the bone-chilling sensation of death.
But now, he felt no pain and was brimming with energy!
A final rally before death? That didn’t seem right either…
Seeing her Godfather looking so spirited and ready to go wrestle a bull, Tongtong, with a weary expression, showed a hint of guilt and shrank her neck.
Oh no… I overdid it with the special ability.
I went a bit overboard.
Witnessing Gu Yanbin’s reaction, Gu Jingnan and Si Muchen were also stunned.
His dad (his uncle) didn’t look like he was on the verge of death at all… Could it be that he was just pretending earlier?
The door was pushed open.
Dean Su walked in with a group of people.
Each of them wore expressions of deep sorrow, having entered with the mindset of handling funeral arrangements, their heads bowed.
“Please accept our condolences!” the leading Military Officer sighed.
“Wah… Division Commander, how could you leave just like that… What am I supposed to do now!” Xiao Zhou cried, tears streaming down his face.
Dean Su also looked deeply pained. “Let’s take him to the crematorium first!”
“Wait!” Gu Yanbin swallowed hard, his voice robust and full of vigor. “I think… I can still be saved.”
Everyone: “…”
They looked up in astonishment.
They saw the man who should have already passed away, sitting perfectly intact on the hospital bed, his complexion even better than when he was first brought in.
He looked so vigorous and energetic, he could wrestle two bulls to the ground!
“This is impossible!” a young doctor exclaimed, his eyes nearly popping out of his head.
Dean Su’s expression turned grave. He rushed to the bedside in three quick strides and lifted the gauze from Gu Yanbin’s chest.
Upon seeing the unnaturally neat and perfect suture line and the gradually healing flesh beneath, even this seasoned doctor, accustomed to life and death, was shocked.
His hands trembled.
“Who… who performed this surgery?”
He knew very well that it hadn’t looked like this when he left the operating room!
Dean Su’s gaze swept over the people in the room, finally settling on the weary-faced Yu Wanqin.
His eyes burned with intensity.
“Is it you?” Dean Su’s voice rose with excitement. “Comrade Yu, you saved Commander Gu? This is nothing short of a medical miracle! How did you do it!”
By the end, his face was flushed with exhilaration, his eyes burning with a fervent curiosity for the unknown realms of medicine.
