Chapter 29: Miraculous Healing Hands
Shen Wei immediately retorted, “Sister-in-law, you’re just a country farmer. What could you possibly know about medicine? Stop blocking me from saving the child. Even if you want to compete with me, don’t do it at a time like this.”
Zhu Xiuxiu quickly chimed in, “Exactly! What could a poor country farmer know about saving lives?”
“She’s just desperate for attention! This is a matter of life and death!”
Although the others didn’t speak directly, their gazes toward Yu Wanqin were filled with disapproval.
They all urged her not to stop Shen Wei from saving the child.
Zhu Xiuxiu even pushed Yu Wanqin and her daughter aside with her hefty body.
Her plump figure blocked the way, her face full of smugness.
Liu Lan was frantic with worry. Finally gritting her teeth, she could only have someone help prepare the soapy water.
Shen Wei immediately got to work.
But five minutes later, Chen An’an, who was already pale and bluish, suddenly began choking.
His small, pale face quickly turned purplish-red.
His whole body started trembling violently, struggling to breathe, his hands unconsciously clawing at his own throat.
Everyone was startled.
Anyone could see the situation had taken a turn for the worse.
At this rate, he might not even make it to the Military District Hospital!
Liu Lan burst into tears with a loud wail.
“An’an!”
Shen Wei stumbled back two steps, her face pale. How could this happen?
She turned to run.
But several older women stopped her: “Nurse Shen! Didn’t you say you could treat him? How did you make the child like this!”
“You’ve practically killed him!”
Shen Wei trembled with fear, shaking her head repeatedly: “I don’t know, I really don’t know why this happened! I saw other doctors treat it this way!”
“You saw!?” Liu Lan was furious, screaming as if she wanted to tear Shen Wei apart: “So you didn’t actually know how to treat it at all! You were just playing around with my son!”
Zhu Xiuxiu had long since hidden herself in fear.
Shen Wei swayed unsteadily, stubbornly insisting: “I… I didn’t mean to!”
Liu Lan truly hated her to the core!
If she weren’t holding her son in her arms, she would have rushed over and beaten this wretched woman to death!
“If my son dies, I’ll fight you to the death!”
The others also began cursing and spitting at Shen Wei.
Amid the chaos, Tongtong and her mother—one small, one adult—quickly made their way to Liu Lan’s side.
“Give me the child!” This time, Yu Wanqin’s tone was not one of discussion. Her voice was urgent, carrying an undeniable firmness.
“Sister Lan, I can save the child. Believe me!”
Liu Lan was nearly out of her mind by now, but meeting Yu Wanqin’s firm, clear gaze.
She inexplicably felt a glimmer of hope.
After all, the situation couldn’t get any worse…
She handed the child over.
Yu Wanqin immediately performed the Heimlich maneuver on An’an, while Tongtong held An’an’s cold little hand, channeling her healing-type ability.
One minute later, An’an, who had been choking uncontrollably, finally spat out the foreign object from his throat.
“Mom!” Tongtong tugged at her mother’s hand, whispering quickly and quietly: “Now use acupuncture! Needle Sanmao, Zusanli, and Neiguan points! Shallow insertion, retain the needles! Hurry!”
Yu Wanqin looked into her daughter’s extremely calm eyes, and a surge of confidence welled up in her heart.
She nodded.
Immediately taking the small cloth roll from Tongtong’s hand—inside was a set of gold needles found in their old home’s basement.
It was a family heirloom.
Under the crowd’s doubtful and uncertain gazes, Yu Wanqin took a deep breath.
Following her daughter’s guidance, she inserted the needles with a somewhat unskilled yet exceptionally steady hand.
Tongtong also slipped a detox pill into Chen An’an’s mouth.
Strangely enough.
After a few needles, Chen An’an’s violent convulsions gradually subsided, and his bluish little face also showed signs of improvement.
A moment later, Chen An’an’s eyelashes fluttered, and he slowly woke up, looking somewhat dazed at the sight of so many people.
“Wow! That’s truly miraculous!”
Someone in the crowd exclaimed in astonishment.
Liu Lan was so overjoyed that tears streamed down her face as she grabbed Yu Wanqin’s hand: “Wanqin! Thank you! Thank you so much!”
If it weren’t for the circumstances, she would have knelt and kowtowed to the mother and daughter right then and there.
“You are our family’s great benefactor!”
Standing on the outskirts of the crowd, Shen Wei’s face turned ashen with jealousy, her eyes blazing with envy, her nails nearly digging into her palms.
Unable to bear seeing Yu Wanqin steal the spotlight like this, she stepped forward and said slyly, “Oh my! Sister-in-law, I never knew you could heal before. Did you learn it by watching me save someone like this?”
The crowd grew suspicious.
What did this have to do with her?
But Shen Wei loved to stir up trouble, insisting that Yu Wanqin had stolen her medical skills and that she simply hadn’t thought of this lifesaving method earlier.
Zhu Xiuxiu didn’t forget to chime in: “So it was just a fluke! Hmph! And here I thought she had real skill!”
Hearing this, the crowd hesitated.
Could it really have been just luck?
Yu Wanqin couldn’t be bothered to argue with her. After giving Liu Lan some instructions on follow-up care and dietary restrictions, she prepared to take Tongtong home to continue packing.
But just then.
A sudden blare of car horns and commotion erupted at the entrance of the compound.
Several military vehicles led the way, followed by a noticeably more luxurious sedan, slowly driving into the compound.
Everyone’s attention was drawn to the spectacle.
“Who is that? Making such a grand entrance!”
“I heard it’s the newly transferred Army Commander, moving in with his family today!”
The Army Commander… wouldn’t that be the highest-ranking official in the Military District?
For a moment, everyone couldn’t help but crowd forward, curious to catch a glimpse.
Shen Wei’s eyes darted around, wondering if she could find a way to forge a connection.
The car door opened, and a spirited Old Lady stepped out first, curiously surveying her new surroundings.
Her gaze swept over the crowd and suddenly froze.
Her eyes widened in surprise.
“Oh my! Benefactor! It really is you!” The Old Lady excitedly strode over and grabbed Yu Wanqin’s hand.
“Last time at the department store entrance, I suddenly fainted, and it was you who gave me two acupuncture needles and saved me. I’ve been looking for you for so long! I never expected you to be in the Military District!”
“Thank heavens! It must be fate that brought us together again!”
Yu Wanqin also recognized her and was somewhat surprised. She remained humble yet dignified, smiling gently: “How has your health been lately? That day was so rushed, I didn’t have time to follow up and check on you at the hospital.”
The Old Lady waved her hand, laughing heartily: “Ever since you gave me those two needles, I’ve felt much better! Even more comfortable than before! You truly have a miraculous touch!”
The crowd erupted in murmurs.
This was the Army Commander’s mother!
And she was calling Yu Wanqin her benefactor, praising her medical skills!
Shen Wei’s eyes burned red with jealousy. Unable to contain herself, she shrilly exclaimed, “Old Lady, you must be mistaken! She’s just a country bumpkin who farms the land. What medical skills could she possibly have? She only stole them from me. It’s nothing to boast about. Last time must have been a fluke—a blind cat stumbling upon a dead mouse!”
He Xiulan frowned, looking over with displeasure, her gaze heavy: “Are you saying I’m too old and dim-sighted to recognize my own benefactor?”
She too had retired from a high position.
With this rebuke, the sharp aura around her made others dare not act recklessly.
Shen Wei was so frightened her mind trembled, lowering her head: “I was just afraid you might be deceived by someone with ulterior motives.”
Before her words had fully fallen.
A person wearing a Military District Hospital uniform, riding a bicycle and panting heavily, rushed into the compound.
Waving a document in hand, they shouted loudly: “Comrade Yu Wanqin! Is Comrade Yu Wanqin here?”
