Chapter 30: I’m Your Man!
“The dean has specially approved it! Your advanced study notice has arrived! You’re to report to Jingshi Medical College next Monday!”
Silence!
Deathly silence!
Everyone gasped in astonishment.
Study at Jingshi Medical College?
And it was specially approved by the dean?
Had they heard correctly?
Yu Wanqin remained relatively calm, accepting the notice and expressing her thanks.
The messenger then rode off on his bicycle.
Liu Lan leaned over to glance at her notice and excitedly read it aloud.
“…In recognition of Comrade Yu Wanqin’s exceptional talent and solid skills demonstrated in emergency medical treatment, Comrade Yu Wanqin is hereby exceptionally admitted as a special student of Jingshi Medical College to participate in learning and exchange programs… Oh my! Wanqin! You’re practically a college student now!”
At this, everyone’s expressions changed.
From suspicion and disdain to shock, envy, and flattery.
One by one, they couldn’t help but crowd around Yu Wanqin, showering her with compliments and apologizing for their earlier doubts.
In these times, every household faced occasional illnesses and ailments. Building a good relationship with someone skilled in medicine was incredibly important.
He Xiulan also beamed with joy: “See! I told you this young comrade was a talented healer!”
Surrounded by the crowd, Yu Wanqin felt somewhat flustered.
She humbly stated that she still had much room for improvement and needed to study hard.
Shen Wei stood on the outskirts of the crowd, looking like a clown.
As for the things she had just said, they seemed even more like a joke!
A bitter taste rose in her throat. Jealousy twisted her face, and she nearly spat blood on the spot.
In the end, she left filled with resentment and unwillingness.
For reasons unknown, Shen Wei did not tell Lin Zhiguo about this matter.
So as soon as Lin Zhiguo returned from his meeting, he went to settle the score with Yu Wanqin.
Evening.
Tongtong followed her two older brothers, carrying a small basket to deliver pig trotter soup to her godfather.
Yu Wanqin was home alone.
Because of the hot weather, she had worked up a sweat while cooking. She fetched a change of clothes and went to the family compound’s bathhouse to take a cool shower before returning.
As soon as she stepped inside, she sensed something was off.
The room was dark, with no lights on.
Lin Zhiguo sat on the sofa like a grim-faced deity, legs crossed, his expression dark and brooding.
“Where the hell have you been? Coming back so late, and you didn’t even make dinner!”
He slammed the table, his voice filled with rage, launching into a barrage of accusations.
Yu Wanqin calmly dried her hair and casually switched on the light.
She couldn’t be bothered to engage with him.
The room suddenly brightened.
It also allowed Lin Zhiguo to see the scene before him clearly, and he froze.
Having just bathed, Yu Wanqin wore only a loose old shirt and a pair of navy-blue wide-leg pants.
Her lovely figure was faintly visible beneath the loose clothing.
Her fair skin, still damp from the steam, glowed with a faint blush.
She carried the fresh scent of soap.
Especially under Tongtong’s careful care, Yu Wanqin’s skin was now so delicate it seemed as if water could be squeezed from it.
Lin Zhiguo felt an inexplicable dryness in his throat.
Ever since his last unsuccessful attempt with Shen Wei, he had felt as if something was off.
He couldn’t muster any energy when with Shen Wei.
But now, he felt a faint, restless heat stirring in his lower abdomen.
Come to think of it, although she was his wife, he had never once… and he had even been played for a fool. What a loss!
However, the moment he recalled what Shen Wei had told him and wondered if she had shown such a fine figure to others, Lin Zhiguo’s anger flared up again.
“Yu Wanqin! Are you listening to me? I’m asking you something! You, a woman, don’t even cook at home, always running out all day—what are you trying to do?”
Yu Wanqin rolled her eyes.
Not wanting to listen to his impotent ranting any longer, she casually pulled out a pack of expired instant noodles she had been planning to throw away from the drawer and tossed it in front of him.
“Eat it yourself if you’re hungry.”
Stop bothering her!
Anyway, she would be getting a divorce soon.
That marriage four years ago was a mistake. If it weren’t for… she would never have married into the Lin family.
Moreover, Lin Zhiguo had taken his sister-in-law to Accompany the Army on their wedding day.
He hadn’t returned once in four years.
There was no affection between them; at most, they were just slightly familiar strangers.
At first, seeing him and his sister-in-law so affectionate did bother her.
But it was only the humiliation and heartache of betrayal.
She was grateful she still had Tongtong; this marriage wasn’t entirely wretched.
Seeing her obviously cold and even somewhat disdainful attitude, Lin Zhiguo’s anger shot straight to the top of his head.
He felt his dignity as a man had been trampled on!
“Yu Wanqin!”
He stood up abruptly, his eyes red with rage. “Do you even see me as a man? I work myself to the bone all day, and when I come home, I can’t even get a hot meal. And you? You’re busy making soup for some other man. Have you no shame?”
He actually had the nerve to question her.
Yu Wanqin finally looked him in the eye, a cold, mocking smile curling at the corner of her lips. “Do I have no shame? Lin Zhiguo, search your conscience and ask yourself—do you have the right to demand food from me?”
“Did Shen Wei not satisfy you? What? You’re so eager to serve her hand and foot, and you can’t even get a meal out of it? So you come back and take it out on me?”
Her calm, measured words were like sharp knives, tearing away Lin Zhiguo’s last shred of decency!
Furious and humiliated, his blood rushed to his head.
Looking at Yu Wanqin’s beautiful face in the dim light.
A surge of wicked anger and possessiveness shattered his reason.
“I’m your man! You have to serve me! Stop with the nonsense!”
With rage burning in his eyes, he lunged forward, pinning Yu Wanqin down on the sofa.
He roughly tore at her clothes.
Yu Wanqin was startled, her face pale as she struggled desperately, screaming, “Lin Zhiguo! Are you insane? Let me go!”
But the more she resisted, the more furious Lin Zhiguo became.
“If not for me, who are you saving yourself for? I haven’t touched you since we got married. Today, I’ll make sure you know whose woman you are!”
As he spoke, Lin Zhiguo had already reached for the waistband of Yu Wanqin’s pants.
One forceful tug, and everything beneath would be exposed.
“You beast! Let me go, hel—mmph!”
Yu Wanqin was truly terrified.
Seeing the desire and excitement swirling in Lin Zhiguo’s eyes, she felt nothing but disgust.
But her strength was no match for a grown man.
She tried to call for help.
But Lin Zhiguo covered her mouth first.
Only desperate whimpers remained.
At that moment, Yu Wanqin truly wanted to kill this beast!
But just then—
“Bang, bang, bang!”
The door was knocked, and Liu Lan’s loud voice came from outside. “Wanqin, dear! Are you home? I brought you something!”
Lin Zhiguo froze.
Seizing the moment he was distracted, Yu Wanqin mustered all her strength and headbutted him away, stumbling toward the door.
She yanked open the latch and rushed out, disheveled and with her clothes in disarray.
Her entire body trembled uncontrollably as she grabbed Liu Lan’s arm, her voice choked with sobs: “Lan Jie! Save me! Lin Zhiguo has gone mad!”
