Chapter 60: Let’s Get a Divorce
Shen Wei curled her lips, her hands restlessly groping Lin Zhiguo’s body, attempting to win him back with the method that had always worked before.
But this time, Lin Zhiguo showed no reaction at all.
Ever since the last time, he had been unable to perform.
Shen Wei tried for a long time, but Lin Zhiguo remained as stiff as a log, even pushing her away impatiently: “Enough, stop messing around. I’m tired!”
Shen Wei’s face instantly turned pale.
Even this trick no longer worked. Was it really because she had aged and could no longer captivate a man’s heart?
One was filled with failed schemes, the other with irritation and disdain.
After a long struggle.
Finally, Lin Zhiguo stormed out with a dark expression, slamming the door behind him.
Leaving Shen Wei alone in the room, trembling with anger, her nails digging deeply into her palms.
She gritted her teeth, pulled herself together, applied some makeup, and went to find Regiment Commander Yang again.
Lin Zhiguo wandered aimlessly alone in the compound.
Unconsciously, he found himself outside Yu Wanqin’s window again.
This should have been his home too.
Warm light shone from inside the room, and through the gap in the curtains, he could catch glimpses of Yu Wanqin’s graceful figure.
For some reason, he felt that Yu Wanqin had changed completely since returning from Jingshi.
Her demeanor had become more composed and calm, giving her already beautiful face a unique charm.
Lin Zhiguo’s heart suddenly skipped a beat, overwhelmed by an inexplicable irritation.
This woman should have been his!
Blinded by impulse, Lin Zhiguo pushed the door open and walked straight in.
Yu Wanqin was startled. Seeing it was him, the shadow of their last encounter still lingered, and her expression turned cold: “Lin Zhiguo, what are you doing here? Get out!”
This time, however, Lin Zhiguo did not get angry. Instead, he gazed at her with what he thought was deep affection.
“Wanqin, let’s stop fighting. It was my fault before, and I know I was wrong. Look, you’ve been transferred back now, your job is stable, Tongtong is well-behaved and sensible. Wouldn’t it be nice for our family to be reunited and live together?”
Yu Wanqin was disgusted by his sudden display of affection and shamelessness.
She took a step back, grabbed a fruit knife from the table, and assumed a defensive stance, saying coldly:
“Lin Zhiguo, let’s get a divorce.”
Hearing the word “divorce,” Lin Zhiguo’s pupils contracted, and he became agitated.
“Divorce? So this is what you’ve been planning! Don’t even think about it. I’ll never agree to a divorce!”
“Wanqin, I know you still have feelings for me. Otherwise, why would you have waited for me all these years? Don’t worry, I’ll treat you well from now on, and I’ll treat Tongtong well too! Let’s stay together!”
Yu Wanqin stared at him with a faint, mocking smile. “What? Aren’t you planning to be with your sister-in-law anymore?”
Lin Zhiguo’s expression changed slightly, and he said awkwardly, “Wanqin, what are you talking about? My relationship with my sister-in-law is purely innocent. I only feel a sense of responsibility toward her because of my older brother’s dying wish. The one I truly love is you.”
These words were utterly shameless. He wanted to cling to the increasingly outstanding Yu Wanqin while still holding onto his lingering affection for Shen Wei, hoping to enjoy the best of both worlds.
Yu Wanqin was utterly disgusted. She pointed the fruit knife at him and said, “Lin Zhiguo! Stop being disgusting! Get out!”
“I’ve already asked my hometown to file a divorce report. Let’s part on good terms!”
“No! Wanqin! My feelings for you are genuine!” Lin Zhiguo quickly pleaded.
“Even if you were with someone else back then…” He abruptly stopped himself and quickly corrected, “Back then, it was just a twist of fate between you and me, but we still became husband and wife. We are the original couple!”
Yu Wanqin narrowed her eyes slightly and suddenly glared at him coldly. “What did you just say? What do you mean by ‘with someone else’? What about me and someone else? Explain yourself clearly!”
Lin Zhiguo broke out in a cold sweat.
If Yu Wanqin knew the truth, it would be even more impossible for her to stay and live with him.
He hurriedly defended himself, “You misheard me! What ‘someone else’? It was just you and me back then! Don’t you remember?”
Yu Wanqin wanted to press further, but Tongtong had already run in, carrying her little bag.
The little bun on her head swayed with each step.
Yu Wanqin didn’t want her daughter to know about those unsavory matters, so she chose to keep her mouth shut.
Lin Zhiguo also secretly breathed a sigh of relief, putting on a smile as he approached. “Tongtong, you’re back? In a couple of days, when the Military District school starts, Dad will take you to study, okay? Just like your sister Jiaojiao.”
“Dad also bought you a pretty pencil case and pencils.”
Tongtong quickly avoided him, wrinkling her little nose. “I don’t need you to take me! Mom can do it!”
Before, he never thought of treating them well—he only wanted to drive them back to their hometown to work like cattle.
Now, he’s trying to be nice—it’s either a trick or a scheme.
This Scumbag Dad! So wicked, greedy, and disgusting!
She quietly took out a bit of prepared medicinal powder from her space, and with a slight thought, while Lin Zhiguo wasn’t paying attention, the powder silently clung to his body.
“Deputy Battalion Commander Lin, you should go back and care for Sister Jiaojiao and Brother Huzi. You’re not welcome in our home,” she said, hands on her hips, standing protectively in front of her mother, her face puffed with anger.
Lin Zhiguo’s face darkened. “Why are you still calling me that? I’m your father!”
But as soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly felt an intense itch all over his body.
He couldn’t help but start scratching, but the more he scratched, the itchier it became.
Moreover, red rashes quickly spread across his skin, and blisters began to form.
It looked both disgusting and horrifying.
“Ouch! It’s so itchy… What’s going on!” He scratched frantically, completely losing his composure.
Yu Wanqin also noticed his strange condition. Seeing his suddenly red, swollen, and oozing skin, she felt a wave of disgust and warily pulled her daughter back two steps.
“Lin Zhiguo, you don’t look right. It might be some unclean disease. You should go to the hospital quickly and not infect the children!”
Lin Zhiguo was both itchy and panicked, terrified by the changes on his body.
Especially Yu Wanqin’s mention of an “unclean disease” made him feel utterly ashamed.
He could no longer bother with arguing and, scratching frantically, rushed off to the hospital in a sorry state.
Watching the Scumbag Dad flee in panic, Tongtong walked over to her mother.
She took her mother’s cold hand and handed her a small bottle of medicinal powder, her little face serious.
“Mom! If he ever bullies you again, just sprinkle this on him!”
Yu Wanqin knew her daughter often came up with strange things. Feeling warmth in her heart, she held her daughter’s hand and nodded.
“Okay!”
Her gaze gradually grew determined.
It seemed the divorce couldn’t be delayed any longer. Tomorrow, she would go to the Women’s Federation and the political commissar to report the situation. This marriage had to end!
Yu Wanqin acted quickly.
When she went to see Women’s Director Liu Lan and Political Commissar Chen the next day, neither of them was surprised.
After all, Lin Zhiguo’s attitude toward his wife and child was something everyone had witnessed.
Yu Wanqin was so outstanding; there really was no need to keep dragging things out with him any longer.
Liu Lan was genuinely happy for her and expressed her support: “Sister Wanqin, don’t worry, I’ll definitely handle this matter for you!”
Yu Wanqin quickly thanked her and even specially invited them to a meal, but Liu Lan declined, saying they could eat together once the matter was settled.
She said no more.
Not long after Yu Wanqin left, over at the Military District, Political Commissar Chen formally spoke with Lin Zhiguo, who had returned to duty after recovering from his injuries.
When Political Commissar Chen explained the reason, Lin Zhiguo completely exploded, jumping up and firmly opposing.
“Divorce? I don’t agree! I absolutely don’t agree!”
