Chapter 93: Abnormal Fetal Position
Dean Su was also frowning with worry. This illness was too strange—he had never encountered such a difficult medical case before.
Just then, he saw Yu Wanqin arriving, and his eyes lit up. He quickly stood up: “Doctor Yu, you’ve come at just the right time!”
“Doctor Shen’s face has broken out in a rash for some unknown reason. All the hospital’s instruments have been used for tests, but we still haven’t found out what’s wrong! How about… you try treating her with traditional Chinese medicine?”
Before he could finish speaking, Shen Xinyun, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, immediately stood up and flatly refused: “No way!”
She hated Yu Wanqin to death—how could she possibly let her see her in such a sorry state?
Besides, what if Yu Wanqin went to Yanbin and started spreading nonsense?
Thinking of this, Shen Xinyun even began to resent Dean Su.
Why was he going around talking about her condition everywhere!
Dean Su, solely concerned about her illness, still kindly suggested: “Doctor Shen, Doctor Yu is an expert in traditional Chinese medicine. No doctor in our hospital is more proficient than her. Perhaps she has a solution?”
Shen Xinyun, however, sneered, her tone filled with undisguised disdain and superiority: “Traditional Chinese medicine? What use are those black concoctions brewed from grass roots and tree bark? They’re all just scams! No scientific basis! I won’t drink that stuff!”
She waved her hand impatiently: “Forget it. I’ll take leave this weekend and return to Jingshi. My grandfather personally practices at the hospitals in Jingshi—I refuse to believe it can’t be cured!”
Hearing this, Dean Su was somewhat taken aback: “Doctor Shen, didn’t the Shen family originally build their reputation on traditional Chinese medicine? How come now you’re…”
Shen Xinyun seemed to have been struck on a sore spot, her expression turning even uglier.
It was true that the Shen family had started with traditional Chinese medicine, but they had relied on those “miracle drugs”—few of them actually had real skill… Thinking of this, her eyes turned cold.
She stubbornly retorted: “That’s all ancient history! Modern medicine is science! Traditional Chinese medicine should have been phased out long ago! Our Shen family is actively introducing Western medical technology!”
After saying this, she glared fiercely at Yu Wanqin, tightened her mask, and stormed off.
Dean Su gave Yu Wanqin an awkward smile: “Sorry about that, Doctor Yu. I didn’t expect Doctor Shen to react so strongly.”
Yu Wanqin didn’t mind much and smiled indifferently: “Medicine is for those who believe. If Doctor Shen doesn’t trust me, there’s nothing to be done.”
She brought up the matter of housing allocation. Dean Su frowned thoughtfully, looking somewhat troubled.
“…Housing in the family compound is a bit tight. Several families are waiting for approval, and we haven’t received a response from above yet. Wait for me to follow up for you.”
The reality was that several doctors who had worked at the Military District Hospital for many years still hadn’t been allocated housing.
They were all waiting for this round of quotas.
He was somewhat worried that if housing were approved for Yu Wanqin first, those doctors might feel resentful.
Yu Wanqin could see Dean Su’s dilemma and didn’t press further. After thanking him, she went to work.
When it was time to get off work, Tongtong and her two older brothers were already waiting at the hospital entrance.
Carrying the pink little backpack her mother had made for her, the adorable, snow-white little girl stood out conspicuously in the crowd.
“Mom!”
As soon as she saw Yu Wanqin, Tongtong excitedly dashed over.
Yu Wanqin smiled and caught her daughter, greeting Gu Jingnan and Si Muchen one by one. Just as they were about to head home, they ran into an acquaintance in the emergency hall.
It was Cao Min, Dean Su’s wife. She was five months pregnant, but her belly looked as if she were eight months along, and her movements had already become somewhat clumsy.
She had just finished her prenatal checkup and was sitting on a bench in the lobby, resting while waiting for Dean Su so they could go home together.
Looking at the normal indicators on her checkup report, Cao Min breathed a slight sigh of relief. When she looked up and saw Yu Wanqin and her children, she greeted them with a smile.
“Auntie Minmin, hello!” Tongtong greeted sweetly, beaming like a soft, sticky rice dumpling.
“Oh! Hello, Tongtong. Is Doctor Yu off work now?” Mrs. Su smiled at the adorable Tongtong and bent down to pinch her little cheek.
She had always loved children, especially since becoming pregnant herself. It was almost instinctual—whenever she saw a cute child, she couldn’t help but stop and admire them.
If only she could have such a smart and lovely baby too.
Cao Min smiled and rummaged through her bag, pulling out a piece of chocolate for Tongtong. “Here you go, sweetie. This is for you.”
Tongtong blinked her big eyes and thanked her in a soft, milky voice. As she took the chocolate, she carefully observed Mrs. Su’s complexion and looked at her belly, her little brow furrowing slightly.
She reached out a tiny finger and gently touched Mrs. Su’s hand, which was holding the test report, asking in her childish voice, “Auntie Minmin, are there two little babies in your belly?”
Mrs. Su was taken aback for a moment before laughing. “How did Tongtong know? The ultrasound just confirmed it—it’s twins.”
She thought the child was just guessing randomly. Old folks often said that children could tell the gender of a baby in the womb.
She wasn’t sure if that was true or not.
Tilting her little head, Tongtong earnestly advised, “Auntie Minmin, you need to rest well and not overexert yourself. The two little babies seem a bit shy, and they’re not lying in a very stable position…”
Mrs. Su was stunned.
Yu Wanqin quickly tugged her daughter’s arm. “Sister Min, don’t mind Tongtong. She’s just talking nonsense.”
Some pregnant women were very sensitive about hearing such things.
After a brief moment of surprise, Mrs. Su quickly composed herself.
She waved it off cheerfully, saying, “It’s fine. Children say the darndest things.”
But deep down, she couldn’t help but wonder.
Could her pregnancy really be unstable? That shouldn’t be the case… All the checkup results were normal.
Seeing her half-convinced expression, Tongtong turned to Yu Wanqin and said, “Mom, when you have time, could you prescribe some medicine to protect the little babies for Auntie Minmin?”
Yu Wanqin was surprised by her daughter’s keen observation. Considering Tongtong’s abilities, she decided it was better to err on the side of caution.
Dean Su and his wife had always been kind to her, and she wanted to repay their kindness.
So Yu Wanqin said to Mrs. Su, “Sister Min, when you have time, let me help you with some adjustments? I can prescribe some things suitable for pregnant women to help regulate your body. It’ll be healthier for the babies too.”
Mrs. Su didn’t take it too seriously and waved it off with a smile. “Thank you for your kindness. Let’s schedule a time later.”
Seeing her reaction, Tongtong sighed inwardly but still added one more piece of advice.
“Then Auntie Minmin should make sure to rest more and get regular checkups, okay?”
Mrs. Su was amused by Little Tongtong’s earnest expression, thinking the child was simply adorable and showing concern for her.
She pinched Tongtong’s cheek with a smile. “Thank you for caring, Tongtong. Auntie will be careful. Wanqin, your daughter is such a sweetheart, a real little cotton-padded jacket.”
After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Mrs. Su took her report and went to find Dean Su.
Tongtong watched Aunt Minmin’s retreating figure, her little brow still slightly furrowed.
She could sense that Aunt Minmin’s pregnancy this time was indeed not very smooth—it was twins, her qi and blood were somewhat weak, and the fetal position didn’t seem quite right either…
She hoped Dean Su and Aunt Minmin would take it seriously.
