Chapter 267: He Couldn't Let Her Go to Bed Upset The private doctor Jiang Shixu kept on call was staying in the guest room downstairs. Lin Sen had already called him over moments earlier. The private doctor rushed in with his medical kit, and when he saw Jiang Shixu's condition, his face went pale with fright. He tremblingly administered the injection to Jiang Shixu. Lin Sen tossed Gu Qiuhui out and had a female hotel attendant find her some clothes. Once she had changed, he had her taken to the police station. After handling that, Lin Sen hurried back into the room to check on Jiang Shixu's condition. "Doctor, how is the CEO doing?" Lin Sen asked, his heart pounding with fear. The doctor wiped the sweat from his brow and steadied his breathing before replying, "Since we don't know exactly what drug was administered, I can't immediately prescribe the right antidote. I've only been able to inject some medication to alleviate the symptoms. His condition is temporarily stable for now, but we need to get the CEO to the hospital right away—there's no time to waste." Lin Sen: "Understood. I'll take him to the hospital now." ... Jiang Shixu was fully conscious an hour later. He lay in the hospital bed, his complexion slightly pale. Lin Sen stood off to the side, head lowered. "CEO, this was a failure on my part. Whatever punishment you deem fit, I'll accept it. Just please don't fire me—I can't afford to lose this job." Jiang Shixu stared at Lin Sen, his expression cold and severe. "How did she get into my room?" Lin Sen bowed his head even lower, his voice dropping as well. "About twenty minutes before the incident, I ran into Gu Qiuhui in the lobby downstairs. She was in a hurry and wasn't watching where she was going—she bumped into me. Your room card was in the pocket of my suit jacket. She must have taken it then." As Jiang Shixu's personal assistant, Lin Sen always carried a room card that could open Jiang Shixu's suite, for use in emergencies. Jiang Shixu's voice was cold and low. "You didn't notice the card was missing right away?" A chill ran down Lin Sen's spine. "I'm sorry, CEO. It was my mistake." Jiang Shixu asked again, "Where is she now?" "She's already been taken to the police station." Jiang Shixu's eyes turned dark and icy. "Terminate all cooperation with Zhonghui Group. Begin preparations to acquire them." Zhonghui Group was Gu Qiuhui's father's company. Lin Sen: "Yes, sir." "As for you..." Jiang Shixu's gaze was frigid as he looked at Lin Sen. Lin Sen didn't dare breathe too loudly, his heart full of anxiety. Jiang Shixu said coldly, "Pay cut, demotion. You'll handle the termination of the contract with Zhonghui Group on my behalf. Don't show your face in front of me again until it's done." Lin Sen let out a silent sigh of relief. At least it was just a pay cut and demotion—not termination. Lin Sen's tense body relaxed slightly, and he lowered his gaze, replying respectfully, "Yes, CEO." Jiang Shixu's face was covered in a layer of frost, his eyes dark and deep. "Cancel all of tomorrow's schedule. Send me to the airport immediately. I'm returning to Jiangcheng." Tangtang had blocked him on both WeChat and phone. He couldn't reach her now. He didn't care about tomorrow's schedule anymore. He had to fly back right away to explain things to Tangtang—he couldn't let her go to bed upset. If he didn't go back now and waited until tomorrow after finishing his work, Tangtang might break up with him. This wasn't a small matter. He was afraid of losing her again. Lin Sen replied, "Yes, CEO. I'll take care of it right away." ... After hanging up the video call, Chu Tang's entire body trembled uncontrollably. She had blocked all of Jiang Shixu's contact methods. Rage churned in her chest, and she was at her absolute limit of irritation. Chu Tang tried to distract herself. But whether she was reading, binge-watching shows, playing games, or handling work, her mind uncontrollably kept conjuring up certain images. In her ears, she kept hearing the man's heavy breathing and the woman's soft moans. Chu Tang was about to lose her mind. She did every distracting activity she could think of that was possible at that moment, yet not only did the fire in her heart not go out—it only burned hotter. The more Chu Tang thought about it, the angrier she got. She pulled Jiang Shixu's number out of the blacklist, ready to call him and pick a fight. She'd even already thought of what she wanted to yell at him. But to her surprise, Jiang Shixu's phone was turned off. He actually dared to turn off his phone! After Gu Qiuhui provoked her. After she'd heard those sounds and angrily blocked him, he actually turned off his phone! Fine, Jiang Shixu. You'd better not regret this. Chu Tang climbed into bed in a huff, forcing herself to sleep, but she couldn't fall asleep no matter what. ... Three hours later. A black Cullinan pulled up outside the villa. Jiang Shixu got out of the car and strode quickly to the door, pressing the doorbell. The person who came to open the door was A Wen. Seeing Jiang Shixu suddenly appear, A Wen's expression froze for a moment in stunned surprise. Jiang Shixu could tell from A Wen's expression that she didn't know what had happened between him and Chu Tang tonight. It seemed Chu Tang hadn't told A Wen yet. That made things easier. A Wen asked in confusion, "President Jiang, why are you here?" Jiang Shixu replied, "I came back to surprise Tangtang." A Wen, suspecting nothing, opened the door for Jiang Shixu. "Is she asleep?" Jiang Shixu asked A Wen as he walked into the villa. "She should be asleep by now." They reached the door of Chu Tang's room. Jiang Shixu lowered his voice and said, "Alright, that'll be all for now." A Wen nodded. "Then I'll go rest." Jiang Shixu pressed the doorbell to Chu Tang's bedroom. Chu Tang hadn't been asleep at all. As soon as the doorbell rang, she climbed out of bed. She slipped on her slippers and went to open the door, thinking A Wen must have something to tell her. When she pulled the door open and saw that stunningly handsome face, Chu Tang froze in place. Then, the anger she had just barely managed to suppress flared up again. "Tangtang, it's me." Jiang Shixu's voice was urgent. "I came to apologize and explain things to you." Chu Tang let out a cold laugh and raised her hand to shut the door. "No need!" Jiang Shixu reached out to block it, speaking faster. "Tangtang, listen to me. Nothing happened between me and Gu Qiuhui." Chu Tang's eyes were cold, devoid of any warmth. She stared at Jiang Shixu and said icily, "Leave. I don't want to hear your explanation." Suddenly, her gaze landed on the bandage wrapped around the man's hand, and her expression shifted. "What happened to your hand?" "I cut it with a knife myself." "To fight off the effects of the drug?" Chu Tang's eyes trembled slightly. He said the wound on his hand was self-inflicted with a knife—she had almost instantly guessed that he had been drugged. "Yeah." Jiang Shixu sidled his way in, casually closing the door behind him. Without a word, he wrapped his arm around Chu Tang's slender waist, spun her around, and pressed her against the door. "Tangtang, don't chase me away." The man lowered his gaze to look at Chu Tang, his voice slightly husky and seductive. "I flew all the way back just to apologize to you. At the very least, you should hear me out before passing judgment. You can't just sentence me to death right off the bat." Chu Tang gave a cold laugh, a snort escaping her nose. "Hah, then go ahead and talk." Jiang Shixu succinctly told Chu Tang the whole story—the beginning, the middle, and the end. After hearing it all, the anger in Chu Tang's heart subsided considerably. "Tangtang, I came back to apologize and explain." Chu Tang still kept a cold face, sneering. "Heh heh, you're spared the death penalty, but you can't escape the punishment." The man's tone was gentle, his eyes full of adoration. "Fine. Tell me what you want me to do."
