Chapter 4 Chu Li Is My Girlfriend
“Am I scary?”
Pei Suiheng lightly tapped his fingers against the tabletop, once after another, steady and powerful.
His expression was placid, giving away nothing. No one could tell what he was thinking at that moment.
It was the first time Zhou Ye had heard Brother Sui ask such a strange question, and he was a little confused. Had something happened to Brother Sui?
He swallowed. “Um… Brother Sui, are you sure you want me to tell you the truth?”
Pei Suiheng’s handsome face darkened instantly. “Forget it. Don’t say anything.”
Zhou Ye nodded like a pecking chick. “Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm!”
It was best not to say anything. If he did, he might get beaten up.
Did he dare say Brother Sui was fierce? Brother Sui was clearly the gentlest, most polite, most handsome, and most sensual man in the world… Yeah, right.
Aside from the last two, none of those descriptions fit at all!
Although Zhou Ye was usually careless, unreliable, and spent every day thinking about nothing but eating, drinking, and having fun, sometimes he was truly perceptive.
There was definitely something wrong with Brother Sui today. Otherwise, he would never have asked such a question.
“Brother Sui, what happened to you today?”
Zhou Ye was genuinely curious. He stared at Pei Suiheng with a pair of clear yet foolish-looking eyes, gazing at him expectantly.
Just as Zhou Ye was wondering what was going on, Pei Suiheng suddenly chuckled. His voice was low and sensual, and his tone held undisguised delight.
Zhou Ye was not surprised. He only wondered whether Brother Sui had been possessed. Why was he smiling like that?
Then he heard Brother Sui say calmly, “I ran into a cat on the way today.”
Zhou Ye was completely baffled. “A cat?”
“There are quite a lot of stray cats at our university, but plenty of people feed them. Every one of them is plump and well-fed.”
Only after saying this did he realize something was off. “Brother Sui, since when have you liked animals?”
He distinctly remembered that Brother Sui had no interest in cats or dogs. Every day, he only knew how to stare at that pile of data.
“I just suddenly felt that cats are quite cute.”
Zhou Ye’s entire body broke out in goosebumps. It was the first time he had ever heard the word “cute” come from Brother Sui’s mouth—and with that expression, no less.
“So what does that have to do with you asking me that?”
There was an emotion in Pei Suiheng’s eyes that Zhou Ye could not understand. “I scared that cat away.”
Zhou Ye: “…”
That was practically inevitable.
“Brother Sui likes cats?” Zhou Ye asked, stroking his chin.
Pei Suiheng did not answer, but the curve of his lips never dropped.
Zhou Ye understood at once and offered him a suggestion. “If you like them, then get one.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Pei Suiheng’s tapping fingers stopped, and his brows lifted slightly.
Then he stood up and strode forward with his long legs.
“Eh?! Brother Sui, where are you going?” Zhou Ye shouted from behind him.
Pei Suiheng did not stop walking. He merely left behind one calm sentence.
“I’ll give you that game controller you’ve been going on about.”
Zhou Ye froze for a moment. Then his eyes widened in shock, and he leaped around the room like a monkey, overjoyed.
“Ahhhhhh, really?! Brother Sui, you’re so good to me, sob sob!”
He would never say Brother Sui was fierce again. Brother Sui was practically his second parent!

If you asked college students what the most painful thing was, getting up early for an eight o’clock class would rank first. Nothing else would dare claim second place.
Chu Li was jolted awake from her sleep by the radar alarm that came with her phone. Her heart felt as though it were about to leap out of her body, and for one moment, she thought her soul had already left her body.
She felt her chest and sensed her violently pounding heartbeat, then breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank goodness, I’m still alive.”
There were only ten minutes left before class started. Chu Li had no time to worry about anything else. She threw on her clothes, hurriedly washed up, and dashed out the door.
There was no time for breakfast.
Fortunately, the classroom for her eight o’clock class was not far from her dormitory. She finally made it to the classroom before the bell finished ringing.
Unfortunately, because she had arrived so late, only the desks at the front were left.
Chu Li resigned herself to sitting in the first row and feeling the teacher’s saliva fly everywhere.
When she had finally sat down and could catch her breath, she discovered miserably that she had not brought her textbook.
She had been a little dazed when she woke up that morning. In her panic, she had grabbed the wrong book.
“Um, if you don’t mind, you can share mine.”
Just as Chu Li was cursing herself inwardly for being so scatterbrained, a familiar, gentle voice came from beside her.
Chu Li tilted her head and saw that it was her roommate, Lin Wan.
She was somewhat surprised. Then she awkwardly pressed her lips into a smile, nodded, and said softly, “Okay.”
Lin Wan was surprised by her attitude today. Then she could not help letting out a soft laugh.
Her eyes remained fixed on Chu Li’s clean, delicate face, and for a moment, she was slightly dazed.
To be honest, Chu Li was not the sort of beauty who shocked people at first glance. But the more one looked at her, the more comfortable and beautiful she became.
Her features were exquisite and petite. She had a palm-sized oval face, doe-like eyes, a straight nose, gentle brows and eyes, and slightly deep-set eye sockets. Her eyes were beautiful, like a clear, still spring.
Her entire presence was like a cup of mild water slowly coming to a boil.
Faint and seemingly without any aggression at all.
She was completely different from the people Lin Wan had encountered before.
Lin Wan could tell that Chu Li was trying to give her a friendly, grateful smile. She just did not know whether Chu Li was unaccustomed to doing so, because the smile looked somewhat comical.
Yet it was unexpectedly cute.
Hearing Lin Wan’s laughter, Chu Li looked a little confused. Lin Wan was just about to explain, afraid that Chu Li had misunderstood, when the teacher walked in. She had no choice but to let it go.
After one class ended, there were still twenty minutes before the next one, and they did not need to change classrooms. To Chu Li, this felt wonderful.
Unfortunately, she had not been happy for long when a sharp, icy voice filled with disdain suddenly rang out.
“Oh, isn’t this Pei Suiheng’s girlfriend?”
Chu Li raised her eyes toward Ruan Tang, the class beauty, who had walked up to her.
Ruan Tang held her chin high, and her eyes were filled with intense disdain.
Chu Li: ?
Had she offended her?
System: 【Host Baby, you didn’t offend her, but the original host did.】
After listening to the System’s explanation, Chu Li understood.
It turned out that before the original host had crossed over—and before she had even added Pei Suiheng as a friend—she had already been loudly announcing to the class that she and Pei Suiheng were in a relationship, going on about how loving they were. She had especially done so around Ruan Tang, because Ruan Tang liked Pei Suiheng.
However, no one believed that they were dating. It was laughable—one was in the heavens and the other on earth. How could Chu Li possibly hope to reach Pei Suiheng?
Everyone thought Chu Li had gone crazy wanting to date Pei Suiheng. She had even imagined a loving daily life with him. After all, she had often declared in the past that she was going to pursue Pei Suiheng.
That was why her classmates always looked at her strangely.
Chu Li had wondered why everyone’s eyes had seemed off when she entered the classroom that morning. She had thought it was because she had arrived at the last possible moment, but now it seemed that this was the reason.
The other students treated her delusion as a joke, but Ruan Tang was different. She found Chu Li’s behavior extremely irritating. After going back and forth several times, the two of them had developed a conflict.
Although Chu Li was an honest person, she was not a punching bag. Hearing what Ruan Tang said, she raised her eyes and replied slowly,
“That’s me. Did you need something?”
Hearing her shamelessly admit it, Ruan Tang’s face went pale. “You!”
“You’re nothing but a clown. You’re not Pei Suiheng’s girlfriend at all. You two have never even appeared in the same frame in private. Stop trying to associate yourself with him!”
“You’re only saying this to me on purpose because you want to disgust me!”
Chu Li’s voice was soft and sweet, and she looked completely nonthreatening, but her words struck straight at the heart.
“That doesn’t seem to have anything to do with you, does it?”
Chu Li’s eyes were clear. “My grandfather lived to be over a hundred years old. Do you know why?”
Ruan Tang: “?”
“Because he never meddled in other people’s business.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Ruan Tang stormed away.
Chu Li was a little confused. Ah, she was leaving just like that? She had already prepared herself to be given a hard time.
“Chu Li, look at the forum!”
Lin Wan anxiously tugged at her clothes. “Someone’s maliciously attacking you there.”
Chu Li looked at the phone screen Lin Wan handed her. There was an anonymous post saying, roughly, that Chu Li was shameless and a simp; unable to win over the campus heartthrob Pei Suiheng, she went around spreading rumors every day that she was his girlfriend. The poster claimed they had never seen anyone as disgusting and hypocritical as her.
The post was extremely popular, and beneath it was a mountain of comments cursing her for having no sense of shame. The thread had grown incredibly long.
“These people are awful. How can they attack someone like this? I’m going to help you tear them apart.”
When Lin Wan saw people cursing Chu Li without knowing right from wrong, even spewing vile insults at her family, she exploded with anger.
No matter what, there was no excuse for showing a girl such enormous malice.
As she spoke, she took the phone and began typing furiously.
Then she let out a cry of surprise. “Wait, Chu Li, Pei Suiheng himself has posted! Look!”
Lin Wan immediately held the phone out in front of Chu Li.
Chu Li looked over. A large “Hot” appeared beside Pei Suiheng’s post. Then she saw the few lines below it.
S: 【Chu Li is my girlfriend.】
