The rain had just begun when Kara Reyes left the café. She was carrying a small black package for a client she had never met. “Deliver it before midnight. Don't open it.” Those were the only instructions she had received. As Kara walked through the empty streets, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned. Three men were following her. “Give us the bag,” one of them called. Kara ran. She turned into an alley, climbed over a fence, and reached the main road. A black motorcycle suddenly stopped in front of her. The rider removed his helmet. “Get on.” “Who are you?” “Someone trying to keep you alive.” Kara looked behind her. The three men were getting closer. She climbed onto the motorcycle. The rider accelerated into the night. “My name is Ethan Vale,” he said. Kara tightened her grip. “How do you know my name?” Ethan looked at her through the mirror. “They aren't after the package.” He paused. “They're after you.”
