Chapter 5: The Betrayer

Maya placed a photograph on the table.
Kara's mother was standing inside a laboratory.
“She is alive,” Maya said.
“Where?”
“Black Meridian headquarters.”
Ethan immediately objected.
“We can't go there.”
Kara stared at him.
“Why?”
“Because it's a trap.”
Maya looked at Ethan.
“He's right.”
Before Kara could respond, the lights went out.
A voice echoed through the building.
“Ethan Vale.”
Ethan froze.
A man stepped from the shadows.
Adrian Cross.
“You haven't changed,” Adrian said.
Ethan's expression hardened.
“You're supposed to be dead.”
Adrian smiled.
“So are your parents.”
Kara stepped forward.
“Who are you?”
Adrian looked at her.
“The person who knows the truth about your family.”
